On the eve of Tiger’s return to golf at the US Masters, a new TVC featuring a sombre Tiger Woods and the voice of his late father, Earl asking his son some questions, has been released.

As Earl Woods died a few years ago, these questions were obviously meant for something else however they are chillingly relevant considering Tigers transgressions that have come to light since the infamous early morning car crash over the American Thanksgiving Day long weekend.

I’m not sure why Nike would even produce this commercial considering the fact that Earl Woods was also someone who cheated on his wife.  A serious case of the pot calling the kettle black.  The fact that myself and plenty of others are talking about it means that Nike are probably very happy with the response as negative news is better than no news at all.

Check it out

I actually quite like the ad.  It would have been much, much more powerful had Earl Woods not been a cheater as well.

What do you think of it?  Has Nike gone too far?  How do you think Tiger will go at the US Masters?

EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE A MOST THINGS BUT I CANT BELEIEVE NIKE IS STILL SPONSORING TIGER .ITS BEEN PROVEN THAT SEX ADDICTS STRIKE AGAIN AND HE IS THE CLOSES THING TO A SEXUAL PREDITOR THAT WE’VE SEEN WITHOUT BEING LABELED THAT .IN MY OPINION THATS WHAT LEVEL HE IS AT AND I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER NIKE PRODUCT AGAIN .THEY DIDNT HAVE TO GO DOWN TO TIGERS LEVEL WITH THAT HIPYCRITICAL COMMERCIAL OF HIS FATHER WHO HAS BEEN ALSO KNOWN TO BE A CHEATER .

Nike’s support of Tiger and his behavior is outrageous to say the least. A fine model for the youth of American. At least my family no longer will deal Nike’s products. Besides their new icon I expect to see Michael Vick in an upcoming Nike ad.

So if Michael Vick starts promoting Nike, that does right this wrong and you start buying Nike again? Or are you gone for good?

  3. D Hoel says:

Everyone including a few moral people who unfortunately work for Nike should read the current issue of Vanity Fair about the payed for women in Tiger’s life. 60k for a weekend seems a bit step but if Nike is covering it so what.

Honestly, i don’t really understand the point to the commercial.. is there supposed to be one? Tiger is just standing there and blinking occasionally…. this is a nike commercial? Huh???

    • jackmcclane says:

Kristi, I think the point to the commercial is to get people talking about it. The brand “Nike” will also get mentioned in your discussion with your friend/family/colleague. You may not go out and buy a Nike product right there and then but the brand enters your psyche and the next time you make a purchase be it shoes, apparrell or equipment, the Nike Executives are hoping you go their way.

Maybe nike should market a line of condoms, they could have Tiger say “When you score a hole in one, always play the game safe!”, haven’t bought nike for years, found their products were like their ambassador, over priced and inferior quality.
